A great Internet Radio September 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It was very easy to set up, had it up and running in less than 15 minutes. I was able to receive all the stations I wanted to listen to. Also able to access the MP3 files on my computer via windows media player 11. All the radio functions worked as the manufactured indicated. I highly recommend this Internet radio alarm clock with built-in WiFi.
Good alternative to more expensive models September 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is user-friendly. Connecting it to your wireless network is easy just by following 3 or 4 steps. The audio quality is good enough and the choice of radio station is plentiful. This is for the good.
Now, for the bad, I have 2 problems to report: 1- It doesn't want to conect to my favorite station anymore. I don't know if it is because of my favorite station changing ip address or if its related to the radio itself. I have sent an email to the Aluratek technical support yesterday and have not heard from them as of now. I'm giving them 24 hours before I contact them again.
2- For a week now, the device has been losing signal and has asked me to re-enter at least once a day the settings to connect to my wireless network.
Other than those 2 issues, I am pretty happy with the Aluratek wireless internet radio but I only recommend it if you have a good to very good quality internet connection.
Very Happy September 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was very easy to set up and does the job.
Here are some issues I ran into:
1) If I encrypt my wireless network, the device had issues keeping the connection to the router (not sure if this was an issue with the router itself Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router)
2) I could not find a way to add other internet stations.
3) When I tried the FM radio it crashed the system (but I didn't purchase this for that reason)
4) If you choose to wake up to internet radio and the site is down, it doesn't default to beeping.
Pretty good but .... September 8, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this unit after my Roku Soundbridge died.
The good side ....
It's compact and looks decent on the nightstand. It USUALLY works. It has speaker out so that you have have speakers on both sides of the bed. Has FM radio.
The bad side .... - the blue lcd while very readable is way too bright for a bedroom. You must turn off the display and then you cannot see the time. - for some reason, I have to keep reentering my WEP key to connect to wifi. Not everyday but was too often. - has a limited list of stations and does not allow you to add custom stations. - no preset buttons. Changing stations must be done through menus. - no AM radio
After using for about a month, my Roku soundbridge is back from repairs. I cannot wait to plug it back in.
My recommendation is: buy the Roku Soundbridge .... seems to be in a class all by itself.
Very messy device August 30, 2008 4 out of 10 found this review helpful
Great that there is a speaker, but MONO ? Tried this device for few days and brought it back for change ... Very messy user-interface and very complicated to use. Also it hangs up from time to time (e.g. playing some stations in Indonesia). I finally chose to get a PHILIPS NP1100 which is great !
