DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. September 25, 2008 The power source is worthless, as is IOGear's customer service department. It will be an utter waste of your time and money to buy this item or anything else from this company.

Great hub IF you need both USB and Firewire all the time. The hub will not power on or work unless you connect both the USB and Firewire cables to your computer. Therefore you cannot just use usb, or firewire.
Shipping it right back... May 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a piece of crap. I haven't even had it for 24 hours and it is going back to Amazon. The unit doesn't work at all, in either a PC or a Mac. Some of the lights came on, indicating things were plugged into them when clearly nothing was, and they also didn't include the firewire cable that was supposed to come with it. It is obvious from other reviews that IOGear makes an entirely inferior line of garbage products that no one likes.
I wish I had not been so captivated by the idea of having such a nice hub and had read the other reviews, because it would have saved me the hassle of having to return it.
Does not always read the cards January 30, 2008 Mostly it works ok, and I really like the form factor. But many times it will not read the card. This could be an issue of power, but I DO have the power supply plugged in. (I suppose it could also be the computer, but I do not have the same problem with a portable reader plugged into another port on the computer)
IOGEAR USB/Firewire Hub November 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great Product! One of the few consumer-level hubs that provides Firewire 400 connections. Although it has seven ports, one USB and one Firewire are used to connect to your computer-duh! So, in reality you have two Firewire 400 and three USB connections available for external devices. Not once has my Mac complained about "not having enough power" for any USB devices being plugged in. The little rubber desk stand is a somewhat flimsy and will never stand upright with various cables and devices tugging at it. I used a cable tie to lightly attach my unit in an inconspicuous location underneath my desk. It's a "done deal solution!"
