Charmaine Clamor keeps getting better and better. My Harana is sweet, gentle, and soul-searching. The haranas are beautiful and romantic! Close your eyes, listen to the music, and visualize a suitor serending his loved one. Charmaine Clamor is simply sensational! Treat yourself and the ones you love to this gorgeaus CD.

My former girlfriend is from the Philippines and she used to sing a lot of these songs but I must say it didn't sound like this! Charmaine Clamor has the voice of a goddess that is very warm and soothing. If you heard her on NPR she was saying how she wants to bring back to life the romantic serenading of the Philippines. I think she has in a big way. This music is very relaxing and the band doesn't play too loud. The guitar and mandolin players are really good and the whole sound just slips right down like a brandy. If you don't have a Pinay girlfriend to tell you what the songs are saying, it's OK because there are translations. Nice photos also! (Charmaine is not bad to look at) I highly recommend this beautiful CD. Who knows, if my ex could croon like this, maybe she wouldn't be an ex. To those who acquire this marvelous CD, enjoy.

The noted jazz singer Charmaine Clamor gives us a recording that celebrates her roots in the Philippines and the romantic tradition they call "harana". The recording is a seduction. Charmaine has one of those rich dark voices that makes you want to cuddle on the couch and drink red wine with someone you love. For those of us who don't speak one of the many Filipino languages there are helpful translations. Even without them, however, you can feel what these songs are about, because Charmaine Clamor has one of the most expressive voices anywhere. It goes right to your soul. The word "beautiful" is used to describe many things. This celebration of romance, in my opinion, is what beautiful sounds like.
