Album Description In Sydney, Australia, Lenka was a teen actress who trained with Cate Blanchett, thereafter landing leading roles on stage, television and indie films. A self-described 'punk-ass art school student' and vocalist/keyboardist for acclaimed indie Electronic/ambient outfit Decoder Ring. She has flung herself into two new worlds simultaneously: she's moved to California and become a solo artist. Whether channelling our long-repressed terrors ('Trouble') or long-lost innocence ('We Will Not Grow Old'), her music evokes primal emotions, unblemished by pretense or cynicism and unashamed of cracking a smile occasionally. Lenka's fresh sensibility extends to every element of her music, as the whimsical, paper art, stoimated videos she creates.'It's a mood-enhancer,' she says of her record, 'I don't like it when people are depressed. I want to cheer them up.'

Absolutely addictive January 1, 2009 Today I was at a local retail book store chain when I came across Lenka's self-titled album. Out of curiousity, I took a listen to samples of her cd. From the moment I heard the playful melodies of "The Show", I was hooked. I immediately bought the cd without hesitation. I am so glad to have bought Lenka's self-titled album. I have been listening to it non-stop today. Lenka kinda reminds me of Feist except Lenka's music is bouncy, catchy, and anything but boring. No matter how many times I have listened to the cd, I wasn't able to find a single track that I didn't like. Every single track on cd is addictively catchy. The melodies just gets stuck in one's ears, at least they did with me. The two songs that stands out with me are "The Show" and "Trouble is a Friend". I find myself hitting the back button on my stereo because the pop hooks are addictive. LENKA is a lot of fun. I look forward to hearing more from Lenka. Her brand of pop music is fun without being irritating like a lot of pop music is nowadays.
She is talented and crafts good songs December 24, 2008 The songs are listenable from the start and don't require repeat listens to appreciate them. However, I'm not a fan of the circus-y element she deploys on many of them, that's a disappointment for me.
Lovely voice! December 9, 2008 Lenka's voice is almost angelic. All the songs on this CD are "feel good" music! It's a shame rare artists like these do not get more recognition.

First heard Lenka on the Tonight Show and was extremely impressed by her performance. Bought her CD and I was well-rewarded. It is OUTSTANDING!

What a great surprise. I ordered this cd because of a recommodation. So pretty songs, such a nice voice. Tenderly....
