Product Description Static-X's musical blunt-force-trauma explodes onto the stage on Cannibal Killers Live, the platinum-selling band's first CD/DVD package and first full-length concert release. Essentially a 'greatest hits and more' concert compilation, Cannibal Killers Live features a complete show from the Cannibal Killers Tour shot at The Big Easy in Spokane, Washington. The 17-song set spans the group's entire career, from the classics 'Push It' and 'Bled For Days' to songs from 2007's Cannibal. The DVD also boasts all 12 videos issued by Static-X and a make-your-own-ringtone application. Cannibal Killers Live is ready to eat!

You'll like it if you're a fan of Static-X December 7, 2008 I enjoyed this live performance from my favorite band. If you have ever been to one of their concerts, you know that they are a good time and the music is awesome and unique. The only negative thing I would say is that I was expecting a little more effort put into the backdrop for the concert. I know this is not a super band with tons of money, but all they have is a projector with generic graphics like you'd find in the iTunes visualizer. The important part is the music and sound quality is great, as it always is from Static-X. Another bonus is that it's also a collection of all their music videos to date. Cant' wait for the new CD next year!
GREAT BAND, POOR DVD !!! November 7, 2008 Don't get me wrong; I love this band but this is a product and I'm reviewing it as such. I preordered it and to my dismay when it was released the price dropped like 25% instead of going up or at least remain the same, so I felt kind of cheated, Amazon or the band to blame ?
PROS: The performance is amazing and exceptionally well shot, not too choppy, not too slow, plenty of camera angles and with some cool visual effects in the shape of camcorder takes at floor level . The sound is excelent if a bit lacking in bottom end, which is easily corrected by just cranking the bass control on your amp or eq just a coupla notches. Earlier songs are cannibalized, that is to say played faster and rawer like those on their last album, which makes the performance very homogeneous.Tony Campos' bass guitar has never sounded better; the man packs a lot of groove and his stage presence and bass playing dominate the stage. These guys have the intensity of a hurricane !!! My ears are still shot !!! It has all of the 12 ultra-cool videos of the band as bonus with flawless sound.
CONS:
4.3 picture in 2008 ??!! How come ?! This is really weird and I still have a conventional telly so it's no problem to me in the short term, but what about everyone else ?
The sound presents an uncomfortable treble imbalance to the right; lotsa guitar, cymbals and vox there and very little on the left channel, which forced me to play it in MONO. Amazingly the sound was ok then ! This is not so with the videos which have perfect sound. The PCM stereo mix is OK but not as loud as one could wish for, like on say Slipknot's Disasterpieces.
I wished they hadn't cannibalized the sound of the earlier material to make it similar to their current output but respect and understand the band position in that respect. After all, Cannibal went platinum for a reason, so they wanted to take advantage of it; fair point. I could have done with more takes on Oshiro and Fukuda and a little less of Wayne Static, but hey that's just me. No angle selection whatsoever despite what the box states, at least not on my copy.
The gig is just 60'long !! But on the other hand that is more than your your ears will be able to take if you, like me, like your metal at realistic volume levels.
Speaking of the box, there's no choice between double slimline jewel and long dvd box which is a bummer coz you're stuck with a cd box, unlike the special internet edition available from the band's website, which comes in a DVD box with the added bonus of a complete 1997 concert at the Whisky A Go Go and a heftier pricetag I wasn't willing to pay. Also if you look for this in Amazon's DVD section, it's not there unless you look in the cd section ???? Weird.
There's a cd of the audio of the dvd in case you want it for the car or Ipod, but just don't expect it to sound as good as the DVD does; it's muffled.
A must-have for fans of the ban nevertheless but I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point to latecomers.
Great live dvd. October 27, 2008 I really liked the dvd. I saw this tour in person and it was nice to watch this and re-live that experience. My only complaint is that it's in full screen. No widescreen option. I watched it on a blu-ray player and it didn't look particularly great.
  Static-X October 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Static-X's first live album & official DVD. The band sounds great & there's some tunes from every album. If you like Static-X, you will like this CD/DVD package. If you don't like them, this isn't going to change your mind. The only complaints I have are: 1. The video for 'Permanance' is not included & 2. the 4:3 aspect ratio is inexcusable in 2008. Widescreen is a must.
