Product Description Little Joy is Rodrigo Amarante (Los Hermanos), Fabrizio Moretti (The Strokes), and Binki Shapiro - three friends who got together to demo songs and produce this self-titled debut, named after their corner bar. Produced by Noah Georgeson (Devandra Banhart).

great album January 6, 2009 even though they're named after one of the crappiest 'bars' in LA and feature a guest appearance by one of the most overrated 'artists' in music (devendra craphart), this album is really great and kind of tropical and sunny and perfect music to listen you if you can't wait for the idle of early summer. also it features adam green (what's he been up to?) and nick valensi (my second favourite stroke after Fab) this album is awesome.
Pleasant change of pace December 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being a former Strokes fan and an ongoing Los Hermanos fan, I was pretty pleased to hear that Rodrigo Amarante and Fab Moretti got together to create this side project.
No One's Better Sake and Keep Me In Mind have a Strokes raw sound where the slower folky songs take on the lazy vocals of Rodrigo Amarante and Binki Shapiro. It's very nice to see more Brazilian artists coming out into the indie-folk scene and putting out great albums. I hope Little Joy gets together for a few more takes and wish they would tour out this way.
Solid Album December 14, 2008 Strokes drummer does not fail when taking up the lead on Little Joy. Great music for a relaxing day.
Best tracks: No One's Better Sake, How to Hang a Warhol, Keep Me in Mind, and Don't Watch Me Dancing
A peculiar, but great little pop album! November 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Since the Strokes seem to be on hiatus at this time, it looks like their side projects will have to do for now, and this one by the Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti does it very well. No singing by him, but the other two members of the band (Rodrigo Amarante & Binki Shapiro) trade vocals throughout without overdoing it. The album itself is a mix of Velvet Underground (the Nico version), the Strokes (of course!) and some Brazilian and 70's pop to boot. Favorite tracks for me so far are "Don't Watch Me Dancing", which has a neat guitar break in the middle and reminds me of a cross between "Mr. Bojangles" and "The Girl From Ipanema", "Keep Me in Mind" which is very Strokes-like, and "Next Time Around", which has a bright, sunny pop touch. The rest of the tracks are no slouches either and will grow on you after a few listens. This album is short and ends far too soon, but it has more meat on its bones than many bloated 70 minute plus opuses that are out there. Recommended for fans of the Strokes, the mellower side of Velvet Underground, and anyone who likes good pop-rock that is a bit off-center.
A Little Joy, a little short November 6, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This record reminds me a lot of great stuff, it sounds like Velvet Underground ("I'm sticking with You", "After Hours" and all those cute songs), you can smell a little Beach Boys there too! Some reggae (probably Devendra's influence...). It's a shame that the whole cd plays for 30 minutes or so...
