Album Description Multi-platinum three-time MTV VMA-winning Island Records group Fall Out Boy have officially announced their upcoming new third Island album FOLIE A DEUX, to be released on December 16th 2008. The band told a packed audience about the release last night at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, when they headlined the "Rock the Vote Ballot Bash." FOLIE A DEUX was produced by Neal Avron at The Pass Studios in Los Angeles. The first single will be the track "I Don't Care." Radio dates to be announced shortly. For FOLIE A DEUX, Fall Out Boy spearheaded a politically charged group that unveiled cryptic "Big Brother" type messages in order to support and ignite a democratic process. Impressively, the creative album roll-out garnered over 1 Million impressions in just one week online across literally hundreds of websites such as absolutepunk.net, friendsorenemies."This roll-out was started to engage people and let them tell their own stories. We came up with the beginning and the end, while the rest happened organically." says FOB bass player Pete Wentz. Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" has been nominated for Best Rock Video at this year's 25th annual MTV VMAs. The worldwide cablecast takes place live from Paramount Studios in Hollywood, on Sunday night, September 7th at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern). Since their first major market headlining North American arena tour in spring 2006, Chicago's Fall Out Boy - Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Troh man (guitar), and Andy Hurley (drums) - have appeared on the covers of Rolling Stone, Spin, Blender, and Alternative Press and have performed on NBC's The Today Show, Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, CBS's The Late Show with David Letterman, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live and more

Oh It's Different...But It's Not Bad January 8, 2009 Okay so I am biased because I am a HUGE Fall Out Boy fan, with them taking up a good portion of iPod in video and song. I will however try to tell you honestly of the high and lows of each song, because it's definitely not perfect, but it sure as hell ain't a 1 star. My iTunes is weird so the songs aren't exactly in Cd order...sorry.
1) I Don't Care: The opening chords resemble "Man I Feel Like a Woman" and the lyrcis aren't exactly epic, I'll admit that. It is catchy though, in the way that a single should be. The video is grand.
2) America's Suithearts: What a title. Pat's vocal range takes on a new form in this song, hitting notes in amazing ways. The chorus is sure to get stuck in anyone's head. Lyrics are fun. The video creeped me out big time at first, but I find myself loving it with time.
3) Coffee's for Closers: It starts out a little low key considering what they've been doing lately, but it's nice. The bridge picks up steam and delivers a driving chorus.
4) Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes: This one flies under my radaar for some reason, but it's a good enough track. The very begining doesn't hold any jazz (for me), but once again it picks up quickly and the chorus reminds me of something from Cork Tree with their 'in your face' way of words.
5)Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On a Bad Bet: Song title aside (it irks me for unknown reasos)the begining has an intriguing ring and Pat's voice sucks you in. The chord's played are short and to the point, but they're unique in the way that they ring. The lyrics are pretty good and the slower part of the chorus really hits home.
6)She's My Winona: Um...this one is beyond me. Not bad, but I feel like I'm missing out on some inside joke with this song...not in it's meaning, but in what makes it so enjoyable to some.
7)The(Shipped)Gold Standard: The lyrics are bouncy and witty. The chorus is brillantly arranged. The chords are perfect. It's soft, but deep. Overall jus an amazing track.
8)Tiffany Blews: The BEST song on the entire album. Insanely catchy, the begining shows of Pat's vocal range like no other. The lyrics are just as witty and in your face as those from previous albums. Listen in to the 'little black dress' it's just so genuis. Lil WAyne (I have no idea why he's in the song) doesn't ruin it, he actually fits in quite well.
9)W.A.M.S.: The chords and chorus got stuck in my head instantly, it's just so catchy! Lyric wise it's pretty good. Very enjoyable.
10)West Coast Smoker: The opening rings and sucks you in. The lyrics aren't epic, but they're decent. The chorus gets you, but not completely, if that makes sense. Another random fact, why do so many bands mention bulls? (Think Academy Is...)
11)What A Catch, Donnie: Take it for what it is...the Golden of Folie a Deux, but revamped. It's slow, it's sweet, it's there. Don't skip it, listen in, it's not all for nothing. The guest singers add the depth as Fall Out Boy looks back to their past. The singers are great (though Brendon seems really shrill) in adding a thoughtful but nostalgic tone to the song.
12)20 Dollar Nose Bleed: The begining is so Pretty.Odd but wait!- that's because Brendon Urie is a main vocal component in it. Him and Pat go head to head as they stretch their voices to maximize the witty lyrics given to them. Epic. The song is upbeat, bubbly, and worth it all. Quirky brillance.
13)27: Gasp! A legit swear and in the opening words, no less. Otherwise it's a good addition to the album. The vocals and notes are once again to the point and quick but they make each word and chord unique. Overall, it's a very good song.
Folie a Deux was different. It's not Take This To Your Grave, or From Under The Cork Tree...those days seem to have passed, but they are not forgotten. It's not Infinity on High though either. It's a combination of it, with new elements and surprise. I may not sound as enthusiastic as a 5 star should, but that's because no one would take me seriously if I said "It's an amazing song!" over and over.
That is supposed to be a real look on the songs...despite my bias. I hope it helped.
Great release for a FOB Newbie January 8, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had no idea who FOB was before I Don't Care was on the radio one day and the DJ said it was FOB singing. I had heard Thnks fr th Mmrs a thousand times and while I thought it was catchy, had no idea who it was.
Living in Chicago, though, there was more attention paid to this release locally and Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson making frequent appearances around town generated some buzz, so I downloaded the CD when it came out.
I'm not by any means emo or anything remotely like it, but this CD is really good. Apparently, judging from other reviews, that's because this CD is more pop-rock-funk and not emo at all, which is fine by me.
I think the lead singer has an awesome voice and I think the songs are generally really catchy and fun to listen to. Ultimately, if I want to listen to more than 3-4 songs on the same CD more than once, it's been a good investment. In addition to I Don't Care, there are 4-5 others I really like, though the fact that their names make no sense at all, I would be hard pressed to name any of them. :)
This project seems to be what It Won't be Soon Before Long was for Maroon 5 - their big breakout into the mainstream (read $$$) scene that generates scores of new fans but alienates those who only like bands that nobody else knows about because they feel somehow cool by association.
Whatever. If you like or dislike music because it is good or bad and not because of how cool/uncool you will look by the sheer association of having it in your Ipod, this is a great choice.
Amazing! January 4, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Folie A Deux is amazing. Every song on it will have you singing in the shower. I've always liked Fall Out Boy since Grand Theft Autumn, but this album brings it to a whole new level.
FOB are the best!!!! January 3, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
with catchy lyrics and creative hooks fob has one of the best albums of the year next to the killers. patrick stump is at his best and pete really relates to his fans. best tracks are "tiffany blews, 27, and the shipped golden standard." great album for any fan of fob. p.s. this album sounds nothing like infinity on high so be prepared for a diffirent sound.
Favourite of '08. January 2, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Once again Fall Out Boy has managed to produce my favourite album of the year. I bought Folie a Deux the day it was released and haven't stopped listening to it yet. There's not a song on this album that I don't like and I have yet to find only one absolute favourite.
Fall Out Boy have done some truly interesting things with their sound this go around. They've really come together as a band on Folie a Deux and instead of just one truly great part there are four. Of the 14 songs on this album (13 songs and a hidden track) there's a few songs that I'm drawn to, that I listen to over and over again.
It's so hard to narrow down though there's so many awesome things about all of the songs. I can't help listening to 'She's My Winona' and 'West Coast Smoker' (oh hell yes!) but '(Coffee's for Closers)' and '20 Dollar Nose Bleed' make me happy in my soul. and and and... I could go on. In my mind there is nothing on Folie a Deux that is not to love.
