Product Description Devil In My Details is the third solo collaboration between Ogre, lead singer and front man of legendary experimental rock band Skinny Puppy and Mark Walk. Together they have created a journey of epic proportions... Lush textures and soundscapes collide with crashing beats and twisted melodies to make up this Industrial tour de force. Can you sense the stink of fear?

buy ten copies... listen to them all at the same time... just because January 4, 2009 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
this album is absolutely brilliant... my words cannot possibly do justice to the passionate love i hold for this record.
i'll throw up... seriously.
so, like... buy ten copies and stuff them all in your cd player... if you break the cd player it will have been worth it... somehow. or get ten cd players... and listen to all ten copies all at the same time... I can't even stand it.
ok... now,
When surveying the careers of skinny puppy and their little cloud of associated artists and side projects one might notice that there's a pretty wide range in style.. so it can be hard to gauge what even a hardcore SP fan is going to really dig.
My guess is that those who put Last Rights at the top of the universe will rejoice in this album... For all others... I have no idea what you like, so, whatever. buy it anyway... even if you hate it you'll be better off in life.
It's mega-different from the other two ohGr discs, no doubt. But I didn't buy this album because I wanted to listen to the other two... that's a little bit crazy...
complete genius... a 5 star rating is not worthy.
Relax, open your mind, and enjoy December 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
There's not too much to say about this album that hasn't already been said. This album is absolutely brilliant - my only frustration is with the lack of lyrics almost two months after the release. From what I can make of the lyrics, they are WONDERFUL. You don't have to be a writer (though I am one) to appreciate the ingenius juxtapositions and extended metaphors. The music may not seem as "danceable" as the previous two albums, but that's for other people to decide - I can dance to pretty much anything, lol.
I do have to say that, for me, this was an album that I initially was VERY disappointed with. However, unlike say - Mythmaker - I did not stay disappointed for long. This is actually my favorite ohGr CD now, so you can tell it REALLY grew on me once I let go of my "expectations" of how it "should" sound and opened my mind a bit more.
Strike one December 12, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am almost obsessive about my love for oHgr. Their first 2 albums were extremely well thought out, progressive, deep & danceable. I would consider them 2 of the best albums ever made. Unfortunately, this album followed a more repetitive monotone style reminiscent of the Skinny Puppy. I was hoping to hear something awe-inspiring using advanced orchestration techniques that would stick in my head. Maybe on their next album!
yet another excellent Ohgr album December 9, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Darker and bit slower overall from the previous two albums, but an excellent album if you appreciate electronic / industrial rock. One of the extremely rare albums I can enjoy listening to from start to finish.
far and away album of the year December 6, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
glancing over some of the other reviews on here, i must say that i'm rather disapointed by what i see. granted, dimd is a semi-tough listen, full of highly processed vocals, noise, and diversity, the casual listener might be put off- but, with repeated listens, dimd opens up in the same wornderful way that skinny puppy's "last rights" album did. to clear up some misconseptions- this isn't an industrial dance album, nor is this that future poop stuff that vnv nation is known for. this is definitely not a skinny puppy record, and like the previous two albums "welt" & "sunnypsyop" completely different both sonically and lyrically from the album before it. dimd is tangled, wirey, and coarse, proving both ogre and walk are at the top of their game. punk-ish beginning track "shh" starts the album out with a bang. "eyecandy" slows it down, yet creeps, like a stalker with a hook for a hand. "three" brings the beat back yet manages to poison the well with just enough noise. "feelin' chicken" probably the most stunning track, sounds like ogre and walk stole some of tom waits's mojo and shoved it into a blender with the crypt-keeper. "pepper" almost sounds like a mix of country music and trip hop, while "d.angel" is a perfect mix of both the minimal of punk and the pounding beat of industrial. "psychoreal" is my favorite track on the album- just a pounding, driving electro/industrial track with a catchy chorus: "you can be my gun, psychoreality!" "whitevan's" beginning seriously makes me think of a serial killer driving a ice cream truck in a suburban town, then soon changes to a collage of sound and vocals. "timebomb" is another big suprise and is completely unlike anything you've ever heard from ogre, or anyone else for that matter- if you need a catchy chorus, you got it! "smogharp" is total chilax- sounds like ogre singing along with a music box after the apocolypse. finally, "witness" closes the album in epic fashion as only ogre could, with a march like beat, keys, and guitars- it's sing along chorus get's stuck in your head. including all the fantastic beat poetry throughout the album, dimd proves to be nothing short of another classic ohgr album and definitely this reviewers pic for album of the year!!
