Great 480P all digit TV October 8, 2008 This is a great digital TV! This set works great with DVDs and gives everything a consistent digitized look. It's very lightweight (at about 13 pounds I didn't even think there was anything in the box) and it super stable on it's small footprint. I actually run my DVD player into this TV because I have more setting adjustments on my DVD player. I adjust the gamma and brightness way down and that accentuates the digitized picture. I would recommend turning the brightness down a bit. For some reason when viewed from slightly below horizontal the picture looks better. The picture is a little small but I didn't want to get another heavy tube. This is a good backup or replacement set for a tube that's broken.
Big Mistake September 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought this TV/DVD combo at a big box store, it seemed okay at first, about what I'd expect for the price. I used it to watch DVD's while eating dinner in my kitchen, occasionally play X-Box on it. For the first three months it was fine. Sound quality was okay, picture was decent but nothing to write home about, ease of use was actually kind of bad. Like, unless you have it hooked up to cable or satellite, it wants to scan channels every time it's turned on, unless you keep DVDs out of the slot. You have to turn it on and then put in a DVD. Don't dare turn it off with a DVD inside- you'll have to go through the set-up process again when it's turned back on. Even with that minor annoying irritation, I didn't mind it. I'm not picky. I just want to watch DVD's while I cook dinner and eat. That's it. So it was okay until it totally started acting broken. Like, it'll play a DVD okay until about 5 minutes into it, and then it'll start to freeze up and eventually will completely stop playing. I've tried cleaning it, everything. It's just an annoying piece of garbage in my kitchen now. I'll be tossing it into the city's dump next chance I get. I got about 2 and a half months to 3 months of good use out of it. What a rip.
Dont do it! May 13, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
First let me start off by saying, you get what you pay for! I thought that the price was pretty good cheaper than most TVs that I was looking at. Picture is not good. Sound is terrible. I had my tv for 9 months and all of a sudden I had no power. This was a tv in our bedroom, so not used all the time. I took it to our local repiar shop and found out that Emerson is stating that they have no ETA on when the part I would need would be in or if they will ever get it. The whole power supply inside tv was fried. So, since they have no clue when they will or if they will get their part in, I am sitting in limbo. There tech support sucks! I would never buy anything from Emerson again. Stay away. Go with another brand. Just my two senses!
