5 out of 5 stars True Quality ~ At a price   March 27, 2008

Wow...That is the first thing I said to myself as I unpacked this bad boy. Thestyle, and look of this Plasma is beautiful. Not to mention the picture is top notch. Although I have not had it professionally calibrated (Which I will have done) the "Pure" setting only needed some very minor tweaking and the picture was superb. I can only imagine what it will look like when calibrated. Which leads to one of the benefits of the TV, the ISF Day and Night settings for when it does get professionally calibrated. They are added to your picture options.

Blu-Ray movies through my PS3 with HDMI connections look tremendous. 2001: A space Odyssey look fantastic...Stark black space backgrounds, with the Bright white space ship floating through space...it almost looked 3d. Another very cool feature is the fact that through a network cable, I was able to connect to my PC and use it as a media server. I was able to retrieve pictures, music and videos from my PC and watch/play them on the TV. Very cool.

All in all, if you have the money, (And it isn't cheap) this is the BEST plasma I have seen, and flat panel for that matter. Top Notch.

5 out of 5 stars BEST PICTURE PERIOD   February 9, 2008

I just got my PRO-110FD 3 weeks ago and am here to backup what you probably have already heard. This TV offers the best picture of any TV on the market today. I did 6mths of research and stopped by Best Buy 10+ times before I decided to take the plunge. To this day, I still get amazed at the HD picture from over the air channels and cannot wait to get a BD player. The black levels, detail, and color accuracy are second to none.
I was originally hesitant about the high price tag, but am sold that Pioneer plasmas are the best. You get what you pay for with this TV. From the quality of materials, to design and connectivity, this plasma has it all. But the picture is absolutely amazing. If you want the best picture period, this is the tv for you.

5 out of 5 stars Pioneer - pure performance   January 21, 2008

I had a Pioneer last year that I returned because it was too expensive. Since then I bought down to Sammy 5084 but realized after 2 days that it wasn't the same as having a Pioneer. I splurged and spent twice as much to get this 110FD off of Ebay. In 2 days of testing I've realized how fanstastic a Pioneer truly is.

Note that I did recommend a friend that he buy a Panny 750U because he didn't want to spend more than 3K. I think Panasonic's done a tremendous job as well...but I would rate that 3.9 stars whereas I rate the Pioneer Elite at 5 stars.

I'm using this TV with Over the Air signals as well as through Dish HD. Superb performance from both and I love the independent memory for each HDMI connection. BTW: I was worried about the Buzz since I'd been getting that with the Sammy and 2 evaluaters on Amazon had each said they heard Buzz from their 110FD. I have to say, the buzz from my TV is minimal to none...to hear it I have to literally put my ear next to the TV. Phew!

If you want to learn more about which TV to pick...head over to AVSForum and learn from the folks there. I can't tell you how cultish the Pioneer followers are.

2 out of 5 stars Two Panels- both with Screen Buzz Problem   December 17, 2007

Video Is My Life says:
I too have the same "Screen Buzz" problem, and it is the same on a replacement panel !! Having talked with a Pioneer Tech, who is researching this, the only solution so far is to go into the Menu, and under Power Controls, select Mode 2. (Picture selected to User Mode). Now you will have to adjust all the picture variables in the Menu, but it knocks out about 50% of the electronic buzz. Still, that is not the answer for a top-of-the-line panel costing 6K. This is a problem that is showing up all over the internet, especially Blogs associated with the magazines that review home theater gear.
The picture, if you take the time to set it up, is spectacular. My test DVD (480p) that I used to compare Plasma v. LCD clearly showed the Plasma to be more like a CRT, esp. for quick movements, scene changes. Nothing came close to the PRO110FD, now I expect Pioneer to come up with a solution for a Screen Buzz that can be heard over regular volume at ten feet away (sitting distance). If they want to be a Premier marketer of top of the line panels, they had better come up with a fix for this problem. So far, no one seems happy with this noise, and it is also noticable in the PDP-5010FD (see review in Sound and Vision, Nov.'07). Also see the review of the PRO110FD and the Geoffrey Morrison Blog in the "Home Theater", Oct.'07 edition. Apparently, this started with last years PRO-FHD1 (reviewed in "Home" 2/07).
This has been a real disappointment. It is like your first flight, the view is great, but your window is right next to the engine intake. Far too much money for a problem like this to show up. It will only get worse, as more buy this unit, then wonder if they are the only one hearing things.

2 out of 5 stars Pioneer Elite buzz problem   December 6, 2007

Pioneer PRO 110FD - 50" Elite KURO plasma TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV
I had to send back a Pioneer Elite PRO-110FD. It had far and away the best picture I have ever seen. The problem is that there is a buzz whenever the TV is on that totally ruins the theater experience. The buzz seems to be coming from the back of the TV as well as the screen. The buzz is especially bad at exactly the best viewing position, right in front of the set at about 10 to 12 feet away. I am guessing the entire screen emits the noise and it is all in phase and therefore the loudest in a line directly perpendicular to the screen surface. There is also a wall behind the TV that may be amplifying the sound. It is especially noticeable because the buzz is not constant but changes volume and pitch with picture changes. This set is fine for a sports bar where there is noise but does not work in a quiet room for watching anything with subtle sound. I am resorting to buying an LCD VT. By the way, the media player is not really usable for displaying photos because it is so slow.

The picture is wonderful. It really is too bad about the buzz.
