Product Description It's simple: the top-of-the-line VSX-1015TX dishes out intensely great home theater performance. It's the world's first receiver to process THX Select 2, for high-impact, multi-channel audio for cinema, concerts, and gaming in rooms of up to 2, 000 square feet. It also features advanced surround processing, with DTS-ES Discrete, DTS 96/24, Dolby Digital EX, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx decoding.Pioneer's Digital Core Engine performs all digital signal processing with one powerful, compact circuit board, for a shorter signal path and less radiation. A double-precision, high-speed (180 MIPS) Motorola 48-bit DSP - the same chip used in Dolby and DTS theater systems worldwide - delivers a super-accurate PLL sound-processing clocking module, very low jitter, and virtually no audio degradation. The VSX-1015TX sends 120 watts of equal power to all sevenchannels. The Advanced Direct Energy MOSFET discrete transistor amplifiers offer high-power drivability, ultra-efficient amplification, stable imaging, extremely low energy loss, and ultra linear output to all channels. And with Automatic MCACC, the VSX-1015TX actually measures and calibrates your audio system for sonic perfection specifically for your living room, regardless of shape or size, automatically.A Windows Media Audio 9 (WMA-9) Professional Decoder allows you to listen to two-channel and multi-channel WMA compressed audio files. Plus, Video Conversion up-converts S-Video and composite video into component video, for a simpler, higher-quality video connection to your TV or Panel. Included are a full complement of connections (with a digital optical output) and a new pre-programmed/learning LCD remote.
Amazon.com Product Description Pioneer's versatile VSX-1015TX 7.1-channel AV receiver delivers a pulse-pounding 120 watts per channel to produce exciting, enveloping sound for your favorite movies and music. The THX Select2-certified receiver also offers an onboard processor for Windows Media Audio 9 Professional (WMA9 Pro), so if you hook up PC or a WMA-compatible optical media player (via an optical or coaxial digital-audio connection) you'll be able to enjoy surround-formatted Web content, too--gaming will never be the same. The VSX-1015TX's amplifier uses high-quality, low-distortion discrete MOSFET technology unique to Pioneer. This generates equal amplifier power for all 7 amplified channels (front left, center, right, mid-rear left/right, and rear left/right), eliminating the possibility of any one channel dominating a particular sound field. Dolby Digital and DTS decoding brings theater sound right into your home with up to 6 discrete channels of surround sound, including a special ".1" LFE (low-frequency effects) channel for deep, realistic sound effects. The built-in Dolby Pro Logic IIx and DTS Neo:6 decoders not only provide full surround sound decoding for Dolby Surround sources, but will also generate convincing surround sound for any stereo source. Also, with the addition of a surround back speaker, you can take advantage of the built-in Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES decoders for 6.1-channel surround sound. The receiver also offers 8 proprietary Pioneer Advanced Surround modes. Setting up for home theater sound is as easy as connecting your speakers, a DVD player or other source, and your TV. Automatic MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System) with 5-band equalization offers studio-quality set-up and calibration of your system, and it works in any room. Auto MCACC Setup measures the acoustic characteristics of your listening area, taking into account ambient noise, speaker size and distance, and tests for both channel delay and channel level. After you've set up the microphone provided with your system, the receiver uses the information from a series of test tones to optimize the speaker settings and EQ for your particular room. For complete surround sound control you still have access to the full range of surround sound settings. Connections consist of 5 digital-audio inputs (3 optical, 2 coaxial) and 1 output (optical), 5 each composite- and S-video inputs (with 5 accompanying left/right stereo analog audio jacks), and 3 high-bandwidth (5 Hz to 100 MHz) component-video inputs. The unit offers convenient, high-quality binding-post terminals for all speaker connections (7 plus left/right outputs for a stereo speaker-B output). And you'll also appreciate the receiver's 7.1-channel RCA preamp outputs whenever you're ready to move to higher-power amplification. What's more, the receiver converts S-video and composite-video to component-video signals, so you only need one video connection to your TV/monitor, irrespective of your viewing source. The supplied LCD learning remote control gives you not only complete control over every function of this receiver, but also over the main functions for other components in your home theater system. Using a system of preset codes, you can program the remote to operate a wide range of other equipment. If you often listen to a particular radio station, it's convenient to have the receiver store the frequency for easy recall whenever you want to listen to that station. This receiver can memorize up to 30 stations. The VSX-1015TX bears the THX Select2 logo, which means it has passed a rigorous series of quality and performance tests covering every aspect of the product. This includes testing of preamplifier and power amplifier performance and operation and hundreds of other parameters in both the digital and analog domains, helping to ensure that your home theater experience as faithful as possible to what the studios intended. What's in the Box Receiver, remote control, remote batteries, calibration microphone, FM and AM antennas, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Broke 1 week after 1 year Warranty -$430 wasted! July 28, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Multi-channel (Hi-Fi Audio -my favorite feature) broke after 1 week after 1 year warranty was up-a waste of money/time!
Don't buy this product unless you have $400+ to throw out the window!
Great receiver February 9, 2007 I purchased this receiver as part of a home theater system mainly because of its 7.1 capabilities and auto calibration of the surround speakers. It's a breeze to set up and delivers house shaking base and crystal clear sound. I purchased acoustically matched Infinity speakers for the system. The many options offered by the selectible surround modes make it very easy to taylor the sound to fit the music source, whether it's a move, music DVD or CD. For the price, this receiver is hard to beat.
Would have received 5 stars if not for the lip sync issue July 17, 2006 This receiver is as good as it says in all other reviews. The first thing I would recommend is to use a digital audio connection between your components and your receiver. Although with the analog connections from digital cable and Xbox 360 were sufficient, the digital connections made a world of a difference. The one knock on this receiver was the fact that for this price range there is no lip sync delay. This is an option that should be on this receiver but it is not. If looking for a great 7.1 receiver, I would recommend this highly. To combat the delay, you can just wire the video cables directly to the tv instead of routing them through the receiver (although might be hard to do if you have too many inputs for the available ones on your tv).
great value July 11, 2006 this unit has all the features that any one could need.the auto surround balance feature worked very well,i personally did not feel any need to tweak it.The sound decoding options cover all formats currantly available with with or without THX to suit all taste.and the 7 channel stereo is great.Ample power to drive my difinitive tech. speakers with no distortion.it has enough inputs for all video sources and the video out only requires 1 line.I haven't found anything negative about this unit.I feel the this is definitly a best buy .
So far so good June 26, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a lot fo resarch like many others. I originally decided to purchase a Sony 1000ES because Sony has a good, long warranty, but heard of some of its limited inputs, then I found many good reviews on the pioneer. At the end, I decided on this pioneer and so far, I am not disappointed. It's setup in simple, the auto MDACC for seting up surround speakers is easy, and learning its features and settings has not been hard to figure out. The sound is great and better than my previous old Denon.
For the money, features, and sound quality, this one is hard to beat.
