Product Description Prepare for full 1080p HDTV. The 40" BRAVIA S Series KDL-40S4100 is an amazing value, and comes fully-loaded with 24p compatibility for smooth playback of filmed content. It also features a wide variety of HD inputs (3 HDMI, 2 component inputs, and a PC input) so you can connect it to a PlayStation 3, Blu-ray Disc player, and up to four more HD-enabled devices. Now you can watch all your favorite movies, sports, and games with the pristine picture and vibrant sound that you expect from a Sony at an unbelievable value.Movies and many prime time TV programs are captured at 24 frames per second (24p). Sony's Blu-ray Disc players wisely take advantage of this by including 24p output capability allowing a compatible connection with BRAVIA HDTVs that have this capability. The benefit - you can watch movies in natural, cinematic motion, the way they are seen at the cinema. Every single frame of the movie can now be seen without using additional video processing that converts film-based images to video reproduction.

Great TV October 5, 2008 I recently downgraded in size (46" to 40") because I found my last tv, Sony as well, was too big for the room. I did upgrade in resolution however (from 720 to 1080p). My previous Sony was (and still is) a great tv but I am absolutely impressed with this tv. I wandered through the store looking at the LG (42"), a Samsung (40") and this Sony. All were 1080p as well. Viewing the images on all three of these screens was pretty similar in my estimation. Although it is hard to tell in the stores for many reasons... length of time the sets are on, are they connected to hd signals, too much lighting, etc. The reason I chose the Sony was mostly due to my satisifaction with my previous tv.
It was easy to set up. My only complaint about set-up is the cable input. It was a terrible choice (flaw) to place it in a spot you can barely manouver around. This took me the longest.
I hooked up my Samsung HD/Blu-ray player and it connected and played flawlessly via hdmi. I threw the disc 'Cars' in (blu-ray) and I was blown away by the picture quality. I put in X-Men: Last Stand (standard dvd) and was equally impressed given it is just a standard dvd. By the way, you will enjoy your movies and tv viewing more in a room with minimal lighting. That's pretty standard with all hd sets.
It does take a bit to start the set up, but it really is worth the wait.
Sound quality is fair for a tv of this kind but I have mine hooked up to a receiver and surround so it's a non-issue for me.
I miss that it doesn't have the two inputs for cable/antenna like my previous Sony. I enjoy some very good reception here and can receive up to 7 local broadcasts in HD including all the major networks. It requires a splitter to do this.
Since it was a Sony TV purchase, the store had a deal on for a Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player for 50% off. I picked it up but plan on selling it.
So even with the downgrade in size, I don't even notice it.
I would highly recommend this tv for anyone looking for a 40" to 42" hd tv in this price range. You won't be disappointed.
Sony Bravia HDTV 1080p September 18, 2008 The television was packed beautifully. Easy to set up. The picture is beautiful and I am very happy with it. I highly recommend it.Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
One complain ... August 30, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this TV and the price was good and the delivery was good too. The picture is clear. One complain I have is that it takes like 20 seconds to view the screen after I press the power button. I don't know if it is because i do not have HD transmission but I doubt it because I have a 32" Sharp Aquos and it takes just five seconds to display something on the screen. I may have to check with the Sony website. In general i am satisfied but i dont think it should take 20 seconds to display something on the screen.
Good Time Charlie August 22, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Good while it lasted. Purchased the unit new from Amazon and received it on Jun 1, 2008. After almost 3 months of problem free service the unit completely lost the picture. Unit will power on but no picture. After troubleshooting with SONY had the option of exchanging with refurb unit or have local service repair it. Took the path of the local Sony Authorized service thinking this would be the least hassle. A week latter after the service company picked up the unit I still have no status on the repair only it has been assigned to a service tech and if parts are required another 5-8 days.
All this would have to happen during the Olympic! Not too excited about the Sony brand at this time.
Fantastic! August 18, 2008 3 HDMI ports, great PICTURE QUALITY, hooked it up to my computer and it worked brilliantly. Great size, couldn't have asked for more
