Product Description Never miss the big plays again. Toshiba's 27A50 has full color picture-in- picture so you can watch two programs at the same time. Hit a key on the sleek universal remote and the images "swap" positions almost instantly so you'll always see the action. ColorStream component video inputs set a new standard for 27-inch Home Theater televisions. Feel the power of Toshiba's 600 lines of horizontal resolution. The 27-inch television has a Blackstripe II picture with a digital comb filter for accurate, vivid colors and Front Surround Sound that adds a powerful sonic dimension to your favorite shows.ColorStream Component Video inputs provide the highest possible picture quality from DVD players. By separating the video signal into component elements, hanging dots and artifacts are eliminated, color purity is unparalleled, and remarkable contrast levels are attained. 3-Line Digital Comb Filter dramatically enhances picture resolution by eliminating blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl, producing a new level of picture sharpness and detail.

Good TV with cool features February 28, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I was in the market for a television, I really liked this model (Toshiba 27A50) for my budget. The 27 inch picture filled up my entertainment stand, forcing me to get a bigger one. The picture quality and sound are great. But anything was better than what I was replacing. This TV has a cool Picture-in-Picture feature that I really love. Although, at first, it was somewhat difficult to get it to work with my cable box and VCR. This feature keeps me and my wife on even ground. I can watch the game in the PIP window, while she watches her shows. You can swap back and forth very easily. This TV also has 'Colorstream' technology. This allows you to connect other components, such as a DVD player with 'Colorstream', to the TV to enhance the picture and performance. There are two inputs for components in the back of the TV. I like this setup. I can connect my DVD to the 'Colorstream' component video. Then connect my VCR to the other input. This way you don't have to connect your components to each other. They all go directly to the TV. The remote control is not the greatest. It has a slide bar on the left side to switch between TV, cable TV and VCR. Then you use the same buttons depending on what the switch is set on. Sometimes this switch has a mind of it's own. It gets positioned between the TV and cable TV settings then you change a channel (thinking its the cable TV channel) and the TV channel changes. Sometimes this gets to be annoying, but for the most part it's not that bad. The remote does glow in the dark, but you can barely see the buttons.
Sorry to say--- April 6, 2001 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I wrote a glowing review about the Toshiba 27A50 but have since had a problem with poor warrany service. I had to return the 27A50 to the company for full refund after four months of trying to resolve the situation. I am sorry to say considering the problems,I doubt that I would purchase another Tosiba product.
Quality?? Customer Service?? January 11, 2001 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying that the Toshiba I now have is excellent. My first TWO sets, however, had issues. The first emitted a high frequency hum (squeal to be more precise) which made viewing a miserable experience, and the second had severe picture problems. I went through the company's warranty to fix both problems, and after having the televisions out of my house for a total period of six weeks out of three months, I finally received the set I now have. During this period, Toshiba reps claimed: that the only person that should be able to hear the sound would be my wife because women hear higher pitched sounds, that since I already had one television replaced that they would not replace another regardless of warranty, that the problems were caused by me or made up, etc. All these claims without even looking at the television. Their servicing agent was miserable. Overall, this was a bad experience to say the least, and although I'm not willing to say that I would never buy a Toshiba again, one should think about their actions before buying.
Repair man made me do it November 24, 2000 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I purchased the Toshiba 27A50 because of a recomedation from a television repair man who worked for a firm that sold Zenith electronics. He had thirty years experence in television repair and felt among other things that Toshiba had excellent color reproduction. Well, I could not think of a better reason to purchase the Toshiba and I might add he was absolutety right. I like my Toshiba 27A50 very much! I might add I shopped around and found the best and least expensive place to purchase the Tosiba was at Amazon.
